Study of milling time impact on hydrogen desorption from LiAlH4-Fe2O3 composites [PDF]

open access: yesProcessing and Application of Ceramics, 2022
LiAlH4 was modified by mechanical milling and with the addition of 5 wt.% Fe2O3 in order to improve its hydrogen desorption properties. The composite was milled for 1, 3, 5, 7 or 15min, and depending on the milling time, various phenomena took place.

Hydride Reduction by a Sodium Hydride–Iodide Composite [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2016
AbstractSodium hydride (NaH) is widely used as a Brønsted base in chemical synthesis and reacts with various Brønsted acids, whereas it rarely behaves as a reducing reagent through delivery of the hydride to polar π electrophiles. This study presents a series of reduction reactions of nitriles, amides, and imines as enabled by NaH in the presence of ...

Data-Driven Discovery and Synthesis of High Entropy Alloy Hydrides with Targeted Thermodynamic Stability

open access: yesChemistry of Materials, 2021
Solid-state hydrogen storage materials that are optimized for specific use cases could be a crucial facilitator of the hydrogen economy transition. Yet the discovery of novel hydriding materials has historically been a manual process driven by chemical ...

Solid-State NaBH4/Co Composite as Hydrogen Storage Material: Effect of the Pressing Pressure on Hydrogen Generation Rate

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
A solid-state NaBH4/Co composite has been employed as a hydrogen-generating material, as an alternative to sodium borohydride solutions, in the long storage of hydrogen.

Metal Hydride Compressors with Gas-Gap Heat Switches: Concept, Development, Testing, and Space Flight Operation for the Planck Sorption Cryocoolers

open access: yesInorganics, 2019
Two closed-cycle cryogenic refrigerators were used to generate temperatures of ~18 K via evaporation of liquid hydrogen at the interfaces with radiofrequency and infrared sensors on an Earth-orbiting spacecraft that measured the anisotropy of the cosmic ...

Acoustic Plasmons in Nickel and Its Modification upon Hydrogen Uptake

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
In this work, we study, in the framework of the ab initio linear-response time-dependent density functional theory, the low-energy collective electronic excitations with characteristic sound-like dispersion, called acoustic plasmons, in bulk ...

Noble-metal-free nanocatalysts for hydrogen generation from boron- and nitrogen-based hydrides

open access: yesInorganic Chemistry Frontiers, 2020
We focus on the recent advances in non-noble metal catalyst design, synthesis and applications in dehydrogenation of chemical hydrides (e.g. NaBH4, NH3BH3, NH3, N2H4, N2H4BH3) due to their high hydrogen contents and CO-free H2 production.
