X‐Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy Study of Ni and Ni–SiO2 Coatings Electrodeposited From Deep Eutectic Solvent

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 400-409, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ni and nanocomposite Ni–SiO2 coatings with nanostructured Ni crystalline characteristics were electrodeposited at 8 mA cm−2 from an environmentally friendly deep eutectic solvent (DES)–based electrolyte containing 0 and 30 g/L of SiO2 nanoparticles. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy study was performed on the coatings to study the effect of the

Computational Exploration of Nickel Nanoclusters as Nano Sensors for Toxic Gas Detection

open access: yesSurface and Interface Analysis, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 410-427, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In this study, the structural, electronic, and adsorption properties of Ni2–5 nanoclusters and their Fe‐ and Zn‐doped counterparts were systematically investigated using density functional theory (DFT) to evaluate their suitability for toxic gas sensing applications.

Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation During Continental to Oceanic Transition in South China Coast: Effects of Photostationary State, Aqueous‐Phase Processes, and Heatwaves

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Despite the overall decreasing trend of particulate matter (PM) pollution across urban China, PM pollution persists in certain areas, especially in fast‐developing southeastern coastal regions. The characteristics and evolution of PM during the more polluted autumn and winter seasons have been widely studied, but studies focusing on spring and

Tuning the Twist by Molecular Design: A New Strategy for Hexabenzocoronene‐Containing Helical Twistacene

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 17, 5 May 2026.
An efficient Scholl–based strategy enables precise control of the C–C bond to access the first hexabenzocoronene–containing helical twistacene (NG2). The resulting nanographene shows pronounced helical distortion, high stability, enhanced solubility, and promising redox and optoelectronic properties.

It's a Gas: Bioconjugation With Vapor‐Phase Reagents

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 17, 5 May 2026.
Gaseous reagents are an emerging class of bioconjugation reagents that can offer alternative selectivity paradigms for the construction of precise bioconjugates. A variety of both inert and highly reactive gases have recently been developed for bioconjugation use.

Carbon Dot Self‐Assembly: Bottom‐Up Fabrication, Morphological Evolution, Luminescence Regulation, and Advanced Applications

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
The self‐assembly of carbon dots, which enables precise control over their macroscopic architectures and collective properties, profoundly enhances their functionality. This review systematically summarizes the field through four key aspects—morphology control, luminescence modulation, assembly mechanisms, and advanced applications—and thereby offers a

Color and COD Removal From ECF Effluent by Airlift Reactor With Immobilized Lentinus edodes

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
Airlift bioreactor treating ECF bleaching effluent with Lentinus edodes immobilized on polystyrene fibers achieved up to 48% color and 41% COD removal. Under optimized aeration (300 mL/min) and HRT (78 h) without glucose, COD removal remained stable for 15 days, supporting a low‐input, enzyme‐driven strategy for pulp‐and‐paper wastewater. ABSTRACT This
