Vegetable Oil‐Based Materials for Drug Delivery Systems and Wound Dressings

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
Renewable resources like vegetable oils are increasingly explored for biomaterial production in biomedical applications. Their monoglycerides and triglycerides inherently possess functions or can be chemically modified to introduce functional groups suitable for polymerization, yielding biomaterials with desirable properties such as flexibility ...

Unravelling Rheology and Structural Properties of Polysaccharides from Porphyridium Purpureum After Alkali Pre‐Treatment

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 26, Issue 3, March 2026.
Porphyridium purpureum polysaccharides are established hydrocolloids among several microalgal biomolecules, however they only exhibit higher viscosity without gelling capacity. Therefore, this study chose to employ alkali pretreatment to Porphyridium purpureum to investigate whether controlled chemical modification could alter the molecular structure ...

Preliminary observations on clotting under three hydrocolloid dressings [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1989
Four patients with five wounds were randomly assigned to treatment with three occlusive dressings: DuoDERM®, Restore® and Comfeel Ulcus®; the dressings were left intact for 24-48 h. When the dressings were removed, it was found that wounds that had been covered with Restore and Comfeel contained coagulated sanguinous material.

The Prebiotic and Techno‐Functional Potential of Microbial Exopolysaccharides for Human Health and Food Systems

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Microbial exopolysaccharides (EPS) represent a diverse class of biopolymers holding considerable promise as functional food ingredients. This review analyzes the dual function of microbial EPS as a candidate for prebiotic agents and techno‐functional additives.

An investigation on the healing response of burn wounds in a rabbit model using green tea extract ointment and hydrocolloid dressing

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biotechnology and Experimental Therapeutics
A second-degree burn damages the epidermis and part of the dermis, is extremely painful, and heals with weird scar tissue formation. It requires developing therapeutic options that prevent scar tissue formation, enabling smooth recovery, and are ...
