Effects of Hydrocortisone on Regulating Inflammation, Hemodynamic Stability, and Preventing Shock in Severe Sepsis Patients

open access: yesMedical Science Monitor, 2018
Background Severe sepsis is among the most common causes of death in Emergency Departments, with more than 30% mortality. Hydrocortisone is used in severe sepsis patients who were not responsive to fluid resuscitation and vasopressor therapy.

Nutritional c‐Fos Induction Rewires Hepatic Metabolism and Can Promote Obesity‐Associated Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is shown that hepatic c‐Fos responds to feeding, altering de novo lipogenesis, glycolysis, and a wide range of steatosis‐associated metabolic signaling pathways. Obesogenic diets cause hepatic c‐Fos overexpression, insulin resistance, and the induction of metabolic reprogramming‐related genes.

The Effect of Intravenous Hydrocortisone (1 or 2 mg/kg) on Postoperative Shivering in Cesarean Section with Spinal Anesthesia

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2017
Background: Postoperative shivering is one of the most prevalent complications that several methods were used for controlling it. This study aimed to determine the effect of two doses of intravenous hydrocortisone (1 or 2 mg/kg) on postoperative ...

Organic Cation Transporter 3: A Cellular Mechanism Underlying Rapid, Non-Genomic Glucocorticoid Regulation of Monoaminergic Neurotransmission, Physiology, and Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Corticosteroid hormones act at intracellular glucocorticoid receptors (GR) and mineralocorticoid receptors (MR) to alter gene expression, leading to diverse physiological and behavioral responses.

Integrin‐Piezo1 Axis Drives ECM Remodeling and Invasion of 3D Breast Epithelium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical stiffening of the extracellular matrix around mature mammary acini induces sequential remodeling phases. An early response disrupts the basement membrane and promotes fibronectin secretion, followed by delayed invasion with matrix reorganization and proliferation.

The Effect of Hydrocortisone Treatment After Day Fourteen of Life on Preventing Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia in Preterm Infants [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Neonatology
Background: This study aimed to evaluate whether administering low-dose hydrocortisone after the first fourteen days of life affects the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), mortality, and other short-term complications in mechanically ...

Mechanisms and Pathophysiological Significance of Insulin Resistance in Offspring With Intrauterine Growth Restriction Mediated by Hepatic GR/miR‐1224 Programming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work found that early‐stage insulin sensitization but late‐stage insulin resistance in prenatal caffeine exposure (PCE)‐ induced intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) offspring may be related to the hepatic AGEs accumulation via intrauterine GR/miR‐1224 programming by glucocorticoids.
