The separation efficiency of Na-bentonite by hydrocyclone and characterization of hydrocyclone products

International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2010
Abstract Upgrading of bentonites in sodium or mixed forms through wet separation methods is considered because such low solid suspensions require filtration followed by drying. These wet separation methods turn into effective and compatible processes for high selling prices such as water and solvent based bentonites. In this study, Na-bentonites were

Separation of Nonspherical Particles in a Hydrocyclone

Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics, 2018
On the basis of hydrodynamic equations, the structure of the flow of a suspension in a hydrocyclone and the separation of isothermal nonspherical particles in it were investigated numerically. A mathematical model is proposed for calculating the separation parameters of the indicated particles and their concentration field.

Design and modelling of hydrocyclones and hydrocyclone networks for fine particle processing

Minerals Engineering, 1993
Abstract An overview of the development of an integrated experimental and theoretical approach to the modelling of individual and multiple-hydrocyclone-networks is described. This methodology seeks to overcome some of the inherent limitations of previous experimental investigations by employing novel on-line and in-situ measurement technology ...

Notice of Retraction: Simulations of axial-flow hydrocyclone and tangential hydrocyclone

2010 International Conference on Computer Application and System Modeling (ICCASM 2010), 2010
As a kind of high-efficient separation equipment, hydrocyclone has been widely used. In order to improve its performance, the structures of different parts have been optimized in recent years. Especially for the inlet structures, they play an important role in internal flow field and separation efficiency.

Hydrocyclones

2015
This chapter gives a brief synopsis of hydrocyclones in theory and in practice, including basic design, characterization of performance, models, scale-up and design, as well as monitoring and control of the equipment. The effect of various operational variables, such as pressure drop, cone angle, cyclone diameter, vortex finder and spigot diameters ...
