Hydrodeoxygenation of Guaiacol over Ceria–Zirconia Catalysts

ChemSusChem, 2015
AbstractThe hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol is investigated over bulk ceria and ceria–zirconia catalysts with different elemental compositions. The reactions are performed in a flow reactor at 1 atm and 275–400 °C. The primary products are phenol and catechol, whereas cresol and benzene are formed as secondary products.

N2-promoted hydrodeoxygenation

Nature Catalysis, 2019
Because of the high strength of N≡N bonds, N2 is often employed as an inert gas. Now it has been shown that it can partly react to yield surface nitrogen species that facilitate C–O hydrogenolysis reactions on supported Ru catalysts.

Hydrodeoxygenation of condensed lignins followed by acid-mediated methylolation enables preparation of lignin-based wood adhesives

Green Chemistry
A biobased lignin–formaldehyde (LF) adhesive was synthesized from industrially available technical lignins through hydrodeoxygenation followed by acid-mediated methylolation of aromatic C2/C6 positions.

A review on the catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived phenolic compounds and the conversion of raw lignin to hydrocarbon liquid fuels

, 2020
Petroleum, one of the fossil fuels, is still the main source for liquid fuel production. Lignin derived from renewable biomass has the potential to replace petroleum.

Hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol over physically mixed Co/TiO2 and WO3/TiO2 catalysts

Green Chemistry
The physically mixed Co/TiO2 and WO3/TiO2 catalysts exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol, and the deactivated catalyst could be successfully regenerated after magnetic separation.

Selective hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived phenolic monomers to cyclohexanol over tungstated zirconia supported ruthenium catalysts.

ChemSusChem
The selective hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of lignin-derived methoxyphenols to cyclohexanol is one of the most significant transformation in biomass conversion since cyclohexanol is an important industrial raw material.

Mechanistic Investigation of Molybdate‐Catalysed Transfer Hydrodeoxygenation

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2016
AbstractThe molybdate‐catalysed transfer hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of benzyl alcohol to toluene driven by oxidation of the solvent isopropyl alcohol to acetone has been investigated by using a combination of experimental and computational methods. A Hammett study that compared the relative rates for the transfer HDO of five para‐substituted benzylic ...

Chemistry of Catalytic Hydrodeoxygenation

Catalysis Reviews, 1983
Abstract Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) reactions occur simultaneously with hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) during catalytic hydrotreatment of liquid fuels. Extensive research activities in the areas of HDS and HDN have been dictated by environmental concern to limit SO2 and NOX emissions.
