Hydrodeoxygenation of Lignocellulose-Derived Platform Molecules

2014
This chapter addresses the hydrodeoxygenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural and levulinic acid for the production of chemicals, synthetic fuels and fuel additives. The reaction pathways for the conversion of these platform chemicals are discussed through the perspective of the effective H/C ratio concept.

Hydrodeoxygenation of Triglycerides into Renewable Diesel

Triglycerides or vegetable oils as fuels is an old idea that can be traced back to the early days of diesel engine development. In this chapter, an overview of the fuel properties of triglycerides and their various upgrading technologies (physical and chemical; catalytic or non-catalytic) are discussed.
