Cobalt–Graphene Catalyst for Selective Hydrodeoxygenation of Guaiacol to Cyclohexanol

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Herein, cobalt-reduced graphene oxide (rGO) catalyst was synthesized with a practical impregnation–calcination approach for the selective hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of guaiacol to cyclohexanol.

ZnO/ionic liquid catalyzed biodiesel production from renewable and waste lipids as feedstocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A new protocol for biodiesel production is proposed, based on a binary ZnO/TBAI (TBAI = tetrabutylammonium iodide) catalytic system. Zinc oxide acts as a heterogeneous, bifunctional Lewis acid/base catalyst, while TBAI plays the role of phase transfer ...

Production of Butane from Methyl Ethyl Ketone over Pt/Al2O3

open access: yesBulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis, 2023
Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) was catalytically converted to butane directly in one step over platinum (Pt) supported on alumina (Al2O3). The reaction was performed in the gas phase in a fixed bed reactor.

Support‐Driven Acidity and Interfacial Effects in Mo2C Catalysts for Glycerol Hydrodeoxygenation to LPG

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
Mo2C nanoparticles, supported on Nb2O5, γ‐Al2O3, or TiO2, under optimized conditions and DFTB insights, are crucial for efficient Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production, representing a promising advance in glycerol conversion into renewable fuels. ABSTRACT This study explores the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of glycerol into liquid petroleum gas (LPG ...

Preparation of Pd Nanoparticles Stabilized by Modified Montmorillonite for Efficient Hydrodeoxygenation of Lignin-Derived Phenolic Compounds in Water

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
Developing a new and efficient catalytic route for the production of alkanes by upgrading the aqueous phenolic biofuels still remains a challenge. Here, we designed and synthesized a bifunctional catalyst that uses natural montmorillonite (MMT) as ...

Role of Mo in catalysts based on noble metals in hydrodeoxygenation reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The use of bio-energy as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels is nowadays attracting more and more attention. The bio-fuel from biomass seems to be a potential energy substitute for fossil fuels since it is a renewable resource that could contribute ...

Depolymerisation of γ‐Valerolactone Organosolv Lignins with Unsupported Molybdenum‐Based Catalysts

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 3, February 2026.
Lignins from γ‐valerolactone organosolv fractionation were depolymerised in ethanol using unsupported molybdenum catalysts. Over 90% yields of low‐molecular‐weight lignin oil were obtained with minimal char formation, yields of the aromatic monomers being 7–16 wt%.
