On the hydrodynamic lubrication of roller-bearings

Abstract An analysis is made of the lubrication of cylindrical roller-bearings in the hydrodynamic regime. Expressions are derived for the maximum film pressure, load capacity of the bearing, frictional moment on the shaft, and coefficient of friction. A numerical example is worked out and the limits of the theory investigated.
