Hydrodynamic mechanisms controlling cavitation erosion

International Shipbuilding Progress
In this paper we consider development of cavitation erosion having its origin in sheet cavitation. The discussion includes generation of cloud cavitation from sheet cavitation and how a cloud collapse can be enhanced by energy cascading from the collapse of a glassy sheet cavity into the collapse of a cloud.

Hydrodynamic Cavitation Technology: Industrial Applications

2015
Cavitation is a physical phenomenon associated with three aspects: formation, growth, and collapse of vapor or gas–vapor bubbles within the body of a liquid due to variations in local static pressure. Decreasing the pressure over a liquid and bringing it to its vapor pressure at the operating temperature generate vapor bubbles in the liquid.

Hydrodynamics and Cavitation of Pumps

2007
This paper summarizes a set of lectures given on the hydrodynamics and cavitation of pumps presented at CISM in July, 2005. The lectures are based on my book entitled “Hydrodynamics of Pumps” (Brennen 1994) published jointly by Concepts ETI and Oxford University Press and available on the internet at http://caltechbook.library.caltech.edu/22/01/pumps ...

Cavitation Intensity Mechanism in the Hydrodynamic Cavitation Abrasive Finishing

Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering
Abstract The hydrodynamic cavitation abrasive finishing (HCAF) technology, as an innovative, clean, and efficient polishing method, has been proven effective for processing the internal surfaces of additive manufacturing flow channels. However, in-depth mechanistic studies on the key factors affecting the cavitation intensity in the HCAF
