Coalescence limited by hydrodynamics
Physics of Fluids, 1997We consider an assembly of liquid drops imbedded in another immiscible liquid of similar viscosity. It is shown that a coalescence between two drops induces another coalescence when the average distance between the drops is less than a threshold value, resulting in a “chain reaction” of coalescences.

Macroscopic Description: Hydrodynamic Limit
2021By taking the moments of the kinetic equation, one can read off the system for observable macroscopic quantities—the density and momentum. However, the obtained macroscopic system of equations suffers from the classical lack of closure. The monokinetic dynamics resolves this problem resulting in the famous pressureless Euler alignment system (EAS). The

Where is the hydrodynamic limit?
Molecular Simulation, 2021In this paper, the classical hydrodynamic theory is compared to molecular dynamics simulation data using two different dynamical modes, namely, the transverse and longitudinal modes.

Non-Hydrodynamic Limit Dynamics
1991There are many ways to scale such that in the limit the dynamics becomes deterministic. The hydrodynamic limit is singled out from all other possibilities by considering large space-time only. The interaction between particles remains the same and unchanged at every stage of the scaling limit The relative scale between space and time depends on the ...

Hydrodynamical limits for epidemic models
Communications in Statistics. Stochastic Models, 1998The author uses the S-I-R epidemic model to study the spread of a disease in large plantation areas. He identifies this infection process with a birth and death process with variable birth rates and constant death rate. He employs the projection method [the author, Stochastic Processes Appl. 60, No. 1, 147-160 (1995; Zbl 0846.60009)] to derive a law of

Magneto-Hydrodynamics and Operational Limits
2014The main aim of the fusion research is to confine the plasma long enough for fusion power production. The required temperatures are so high that no material can tolerate direct contact. The magnetic field acts on the plasma and gives opportunity for isolation of the burning region from the surrounding materials.

Algebraic Limitations on Two-Dimensional Hydrodynamics Simulations
Journal of Computational Physics, 1996Algebraic limitations imposed by the use of connected straightline segments to define meshes for hydrodynamics simulations in two-dimensional cylindrical geometries are shown. It is shown that in the simplest smooth isentropic flow of the spherical expansion of a gas with point symmetry, commonly, and currently, used finite difference, finite volume ...
