Coalescence limited by hydrodynamics

Physics of Fluids, 1997
We consider an assembly of liquid drops imbedded in another immiscible liquid of similar viscosity. It is shown that a coalescence between two drops induces another coalescence when the average distance between the drops is less than a threshold value, resulting in a “chain reaction” of coalescences.

Macroscopic Description: Hydrodynamic Limit

2021
By taking the moments of the kinetic equation, one can read off the system for observable macroscopic quantities—the density and momentum. However, the obtained macroscopic system of equations suffers from the classical lack of closure. The monokinetic dynamics resolves this problem resulting in the famous pressureless Euler alignment system (EAS). The

Where is the hydrodynamic limit?

Molecular Simulation, 2021
In this paper, the classical hydrodynamic theory is compared to molecular dynamics simulation data using two different dynamical modes, namely, the transverse and longitudinal modes.
