Recurrent neural networks for nonparametric modeling of ship maneuvering motion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
A Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) model is presented in this paper to predict the ship maneuvering motion. Inputs to the model are the orders of rudder angle and its variation as well as the propeller speed (ship speed) and also the recursive outputs ...

Tomographic study of the structure of cast and pressed trotyl charges

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2022
The sensitivity of condensed explosives depends strongly on the charge structure. Trotyl (TNT) is a typical example of such dependence. The pressed charges are more sensitive than the cast ones, which was confirmed in many studies including critical ...

Structure of turbulent velocity field in the discharge stream from a standard Rushton turbine impeller [PDF]

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2017
The radial discharge jet from a standard Rushton turbine was investigated by the Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) method. Several distances from the impeller blades (in the radial direction) were chosen for the measurement of axial profiles: all three ...

Research progress and application of computational method for hydrodynamic noise from air-water interface

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu, 2022
Hydrodynamic noise from an air-water interface is often encountered in marine engineering structures. It involves a complex mechanism, various forms of sound sources and many factors affecting the propagation.

Evaluation and accuracy of the local velocity data measurements in an agitated vessel

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
Velocity measurements of the flow field in an agitated vessel are necessary for the improvement and better understanding of the mixing processes. The obtained results are used for the calculations of the impeller pumping capacity, comparison of the power

Non-linear water waves generated by impulsive motion of submerged obstacles [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2014
A fully non-linear problem on unsteady water waves generated by an impulsively moving obstacle is studied analytically. Our method involves reduction of the Euler equations to the integral-differential system for the wave elevation together with normal ...

Anomalous Hydrodynamics of Fractional Quantum Hall States

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we propose a comprehensive framework for the quantum hydrodynamics of the Fractional Quantum Hall (FQH) states. We suggest that the electronic fluid in the FQH regime could be phenomenologically described by the quantized hydrodynamics of ...

HYDRODYNAMICS OF THE VACUUM [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2006
Hydrodynamics is the appropriate "effective theory" for describing any fluid medium at sufficiently long length scales. This paper treats the vacuum as such a medium and derives the corresponding hydrodynamic equations. Unlike a normal medium the vacuum has no linear sound-wave regime; disturbances always "propagate" nonlinearly.

Numerical investigation of nonlinear wave passing through finite circular array of slender cylinders

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2019
Cylinders extend from the plat bottom of an open channel piercing the water free surface to mimic a patch of emergent vegetation and are often used as models in numerical simulations or experiments related to flow in the presence of vegetation. This work
