Drying of SnO2 hydrogels: effect of the electrolyte
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1992Abstract The effect of the electrolyte (NH+4, Cl−) on the drying of SnO2 hydrogels was investigated by linear shrinkage, mass loss, gravimetric thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Results show that the drying mechanism for monolithic SnO2 gels is highly dependent on the concentration of the electrolyte solution inside the pores.

Designing of zwitterionic proline hydrogel electrolytes for anti-freezing supercapacitors
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2023Hydrogel electrolytes containing a large amount of freezable water tend to freeze at subzero temperatures, which catastrophically reduces their ionic conductivity and thus limits their practical applications. In this work, we propose a new type anti-freezing hydrogel electrolyte based on an additive of zwitterionic proline, which can maintain high ...

Tough Hydrogel Electrolytes for Anti‐Freezing Zinc‐Ion Batteries
Advanced Materials, 2023AbstractAs the soaring demand for energy storage continues to grow, batteries that can cope with extreme conditions are highly desired. Yet, existing battery materials are limited by weak mechanical properties and freeze‐vulnerability, prohibiting safe energy storage in devices that are exposed to low temperature and unusual mechanical impacts. Herein,

A highly compressible hydrogel electrolyte for flexible Zn-MnO2 battery
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2022Compressibility of zinc-manganese oxide (Zn-MnO2) batteries is an essential element of modern flexible electronics. Hydrogel electrolytes with superior elasticity and compressibility are highly demand to guarantee a stable energy output of the flexible Zn-MnO2 battery.

Cellulose hydrogel as a flexible gel electrolyte layer
MRS Communications, 2019We report the synthesis of a novel polymer gel electrolyte primarily based on cellulose extracted from wood along with gelatin, polyacrylic acid (PAA) and potassium hydroxide (KOH) added as additives in minute amounts in various stages. We also study and report the variation of ionic conductivity with variation of various additives. We found that, with

Inorganic Hydrogel Electrolyte with Liquidlike Ionic Conductivity
Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters, 2009Hydrogel electrolytes, hydrotalcites holding different concentrations of KOH aqueous solutions, were prepared as a candidate for an electrolyte in all solid-state alkaline secondary batteries. The hydrogel electrolytes had high ionic conductivity (maximum 0.56 S cm -1 at 30°C) and diffusion coefficient of zincate (maximum 3.1 X 10 -6 cm 2 s -1 ...

Rheological Study on Rapid Recovery of Hydrogel Based on Oligomeric Electrolyte
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2008The hydrogel consisting of an oligomeric electrolyte, poly[pyridinium-1,4-diyl-iminocarbonyl-1,4-phenylenemethylene chloride] (1-Cl) underwent self-healing at temperatures lower than its gelation temperature after destruction of the gel network in a shear flow.

AbstractStretchability and compressibility of supercapacitors is an essential element of modern electronics, such as flexible, wearable devices. Widely used polyvinyl alcohol‐based electrolytes are neither very stretchable nor compressible, which fundamentally limits the realization of supercapacitors with high stretchability and compressibility.
