New hydrogen-bonding organocatalysts: Chiral cyclophosphazanes and phosphorus amides as catalysts for asymmetric Michael additions

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
Ten novel hydrogen-bonding catalysts based on open-chain PV-amides of BINOL and chinchona alkaloids as well as three catalysts based on rigid cis-PV-cyclodiphosphazane amides of N1,N1-dimethylcyclohexane-1,2-diamine have been developed.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Hydrogen with water addition: an exergy analysis of the internal combustion engine

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
The internal combustion engine is likely to be used for on- and off-road vehicles for many years yet, but the push to cease using fossil fuels is strong. Hydrogen is a possible alternative fuel with both advantages and disadvantages, so understanding and

The Effect of Hydrogen addition on the Explosion of Ethanol/Air Mixtures

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2012
The use of hydrocarbon-hydrogen mixtures has been proven to be a valuable system for emission reduction and flame stabilisation. For the assessment of process hazards and the safe design of process equipment handling ethanol-hydrogen, the knowledge of ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Influence of equivalence ratio and hydrogen addition on thermoacoustic instabilities in premixed methane and propane flames in vertical tubes

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
This research examines the behavior of premixed flames within a vertical tube, considering both an open and a closed end configuration. The study utilizes a pilot flame as the ignition source.

Experimental Study of Hydrogen Addition Effects on a Swirl-Stabilized Methane-Air Flame

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The effects of H2 addition on a premixed methane-air flame was studied experimentally with a swirl-stabilized gas turbine model combustor. Experiments with 0%, 25%, and 50% H2 molar fraction in the fuel mixture were conducted under atmospheric pressure ...

Photochemical Addition of Hydrogen Chloride and Hydrogen Bromide to 1-Dodecene

open access: yesThe Journal of the Society of Chemical Industry, Japan, 1969
