Pyridine-2-carboximidamidate chloride monohydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The title compound, C6H8N3+·Cl−·H2O, crystallizes with three formula units in the asymmetric unit. The cations are non-planar with the –C(NH2)2 groups twisted out of the ring planes.

Palladium- and copper-catalyzed arylation of carbon-hydrogen bonds.

open access: yesAccounts of Chemical Research, 2009
The transition-metal-catalyzed functionalization of C-H bonds is a powerful method for generating carbon-carbon bonds. Although significant advances to this field have been reported during the past decade, many challenges remain.

2-[4,5-Diphenyl-2-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl]ethanol

open access: yesIUCrData, 2017
The basic building blocks of the three-dimensional structure of the title compound, C22H19N3O, are helical chains running along the [101] direction and formed by O—H...N hydrogen bonds. C—H...O hydrogen bonds between chains generate sheets which are then

Quantifying hydrogen bonding using electrically tunable nanoconfined water [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Hydrogen bonding plays a crucial role in biology and technology, yet it remains poorly understood and quantified despite its fundamental importance. Traditional models, which describe hydrogen bonds as electrostatic interactions between electropositive hydrogen and electronegative acceptors, fail to quantitatively capture bond strength, directionality,

Water's Hydrogen Bond Strength [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Water is necessary both for the evolution of life and its continuance. It possesses particular properties that cannot be found in other materials and that are required for life-giving processes. These properties are brought about by the hydrogen bonded environment particularly evident in liquid water.

Improved Mechanical Performance of Epoxy Systems with Low Loadings of Milled Carbon Fiber via Chemical Surface Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The authors explore thermally initiated diazonium chemical surface modification as a means of improving the mechanical performance of milled carbon fibers in epoxy matrix systems at varying loadings by weight. They report significant improvements at <1% w/w loading through examination of flexural and tensile strength and modulus.
