The sustainable global energy economy: Hydrogen or silicon? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A sustainable global silicon energy economy is proposed as a potential alternative to the hydrogen economy. This first visualisation of a silicon energy economy is based on largescale and carbon-neutral metallic silicon production from major smelters ...

Eutectic Phenomenon of LiNH2-KH Composite in MH-NH3 Hydrogen Storage System

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Hydrogenation of a lithium-potassium (double-cation) amide (LiK(NH2)2), which is generated as a product by ammonolysis of litium hydride and potassium hydride (LiH-KH) composite, is investigated in details.

Diversity of hydrogen configuration and its roles in SrTiO3−δ

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
As a source of carrier electron, various configurations of hydrogen in SrTiO3 are searched by using first-principles calculations. The most stable form of hydrogen is found to be H−, where doubly charged oxygen vacancy VO2+ changes into singly charged HO+

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Hydrogen storage by liquid organic hydrogen carriers: Catalyst, renewable carrier, and technology – A review

open access: yesCarbon Resources Conversion, 2023
Hydrogen has attracted widespread attention as a carbon-neutral energy source, but developing efficient and safe hydrogen storage technologies remains a huge challenge. Recently, liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) technology has shown great potential for efficient and stable hydrogen storage and transport.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Variations in Minority Carrier-Trapping Effects Caused by Hydrogen Passivation in Multicrystalline Silicon Wafer

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
In a multicrystalline silicon (mc-Si) wafer, trapping effects frequently occur in the carrier lifetime measurement based on the quasi-steady-state photoconductance (QSSPC) technique.
