Hydrogen evolution by several algae

Planta, 1970
Out of 33 strains of unicellular algae examined, H2 evolution was observed only in species of Chlamydomonas, Chlorella and Scenedesmus. While the photoevolution of H2 by these algae was generally stimulated both by an organic substrate and by the uncoupler CCCP(1), response to DCMU varied. On the basis of the response to DCMU, it was concluded that the

The Photosynthetic Unit of Hydrogen Evolution

Science, 1977
A study of the absolute photoproduction of hydrogen by autotrophically grown Chlorella vulgaris with single-turnover flashes of light indicates that (i) while the Emerson and Arnold photosynthetic unit has the value chlorophyll : oxygen ≈ 1700 : 1, the hydrogen analog of this unit has the value chlorophyll ...

Toward Practical High‐Areal‐Capacity Aqueous Zinc‐Metal Batteries: Quantifying Hydrogen Evolution and a Solid‐Ion Conductor for Stable Zinc Anodes

Advances in Materials, 2021
The hydrogen evolution in Zn metal battery is accurately quantified by in situ battery–gas chromatography–mass analysis. The hydrogen fluxes reach 3.76 mmol h−1 cm−2 in a Zn//Zn symmetric cell in each segment, and 7.70 mmol h−1 cm−2 in a Zn//MnO2 full ...

Pyrene: Hydrogenation, hydrogen evolution, and π-band model

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011
We present a theoretical investigation of the hydrogenation of pyrene and of the subsequent molecular hydrogen evolution. Using density functional theory (DFT) at the GGA-PBE level, the chemical binding of atomic hydrogen to pyrene is found to be exothermic by up to 1.6 eV with a strong site dependence. The edge C atoms are found most reactive.
