Developing proteomics approaches for identifying new, redox-regulated proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
only availableFor many years it was thought that hydrogen peroxide was only a toxic substance to cells. However, recent work has revealed that hydrogen peroxide can be utilized by organisms as a cellular signaling molecule.

Membrane transport of hydrogen peroxide

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 2006
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) belongs to the reactive oxygen species (ROS), known as oxidants that can react with various cellular targets thereby causing cell damage or even cell death. On the other hand, recent work has demonstrated that H2O2 also functions as a signalling molecule controlling different essential processes in plants and mammals.

Transient Stiffness Patterning in Hydrogels Driven by Dissipative Mechanochemical Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Force‐induced disulfide bond rupture in a polymer‐based hydrogel, coupled with chemical or electrochemical reoxidation, leads to the transient modulation of the hydrogel's stiffness properties. High spatiotemporal control is achieved by this dissipative process, enabling the development of out‐of‐equilibrium stiffness patterns and transient, dose ...

Dynamics of immersed molecules in superfluids

open access: yes, 2001
The dynamics of a molecule immersed in a superfluid medium are considered. Results are derived using a classical hydrodynamic approach followed by canonical quantization.

Plasma‐Treated Hydrogel for Combined RONS and Chemotherapy Delivery: A Proof‐of‐Concept In Ovo

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores plasma‐treated hydrogels (PTH) as a new way to deliver both reactive oxygen and nitrogen species and chemotherapy (Doxorubicin) directly to tumors. In ovo tests show effects after a single dose, especially in osteosarcoma tumors. Tumor weight decrease, and a resistance‐related protein is reduced.

Understanding activity trends in electrochemical water oxidation to form hydrogen peroxide

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Electrochemical production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) from water oxidation could provide a very attractive route to locally produce a chemically valuable product from an abundant resource.

Distribution of hydrogen peroxide and methylhydroperoxide over the Pacific and South Atlantic Oceans [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The gas phase hydrogen peroxide and methylhydroperoxide concentrations were measured in the troposphere over the tropical Pacific Ocean as a component of NASA's Global Tropospheric Experiment/Pacific Exploratory Mission-Tropics A field campaign.
