A New Method to Hydrogenate Nitrile Rubber in the Latex Form
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1995Abstract A water soluble analog of Wilkinson catalyst — chloro-tris-(sodium diphenylphosphino-benzene-m-sulfonate) rhodium(I), CAS 67178-14-7, i.e. RhCl(DPM)3— has been found to hydrogenate NBR latex. More than 60 mol% hydrogenation can be achieved at 75°C and 1 atmosphere hydrogen pressure.

Scratch behavior of the aged hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber
Wear, 2016Abstract The objective of this work was to study the scratch behavior of the aged hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) including its scratch damage modes and their corresponding mechanism. A home-made device was used to perform the scratch testing on the virgin and thermal-aged HNBR substrates with a progressively increasing depth.

Molecular simulations of gas transport in hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber
Journal of Polymer Research, 2020Diffusion and sorption of five gases (H2, N2, O2, CO2, CH4) in hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) have been investigated via molecular dynamics and grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations. According to the simulation results, the diffusion coefficients of gas molecules in HNBR decrease in the penetrant order D(H2) > D(O2) > D(N2) > D ...

The physical properties, compatibility, and morphology of blends of hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR) with fluoroether rubber were investigated with reference to the blends ratio. The results show that the blends have excellent physical properties. Minimum torque (ML), maximum torque (MH), optimum curing time (t90), compression set, volume and mass ...

Catalytic hydrogenation of nitrile rubber using palladium and ruthenium complexes
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2007AbstractThe catalytic hydrogenation of acrylonitrile‐butadiene copolymer (nitrile rubber, NBR) using Pd(OAc)2 or RuCl2(PPh3)3 catalysts has been investigated in order to produce a totally saturated nitrile rubber. The hydrogenation of NBR is effective with both catalysts and achieved total conversion under the appropriate reaction conditions.
