A series of ultraviolet‐ and near‐infrared radiation sensitive photoactivatable hydrogels are developed that can be controlled spatiotemporally down to µm precisions using one‐ and two‐photon uncaging. The latent hydroxylamine‐, hydrazine‐, and amine uncaged moieties are used to photopattern a series of diverse proteins displaying complimentary ...

A Unifying Hypothesis for the Conformational Change of Tubulin [PDF]
Microtubule dynamic instability arises from the hydrolysis of GTP bound to the beta-monomer of the tubulin dimer. The conformational change induced by hydrolysis is unknown, but microtubules disassemble into protofilaments of GDP-bound tubulin that curve away from the microtubule axis.

The formation of inositol phosphates in response to agonists was studied in brain slices, parotid gland fragments and in the insect salivary gland. The tissues were first incubated with [3H]inositol, which was incorporated into the phosphoinositides. All

Inspired by shark skin, which has a hydrophilic “denticle layer” and a low surface energy “mucus layer,” a triple‐defense antifouling coating is developed. This coating features a robust hydrophilic catalytic nanoparticle layer overlaid with dispersed hydrophobic perfluoro‐silane domains, optimizing fouling resistance, release, and degradation for ...

Sonochemical Functionalization of Glass
A new method for functionalizing glass using ultrasonication of aryl diazonium salts. Aryl radicals generated by ultrasounds react with glass, forming a stable, covalently bonded organic film. The functionalized glass adheres microorganisms such as microalgae, fungi, and bacteria, suggesting potential applications in enzyme production, filtration ...

Spectrophotometric determination of cefaclor in pharmaceutical preparations
A simple spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of cefaclor. The method involves alkaline hydrolysis of the drug in ammonia buffer solution at pH 10 to yield diketopiperazine-2,5-dione derivative and subsequent measurement at 340 nm.

Photolysis and hydrolysis of rimsulfuron
The degradation in the liquid phase of rimsulfuron and its commercial 250 g kg−1 WG formulation (Titus®) was investigated. Photolysis reactions were carried out at 25 °C by a high-pressure mercury arc (Hg-UV) and a solar simulator (Suntest), while the hydrolysis rate was determined by keeping aqueous buffered samples in the dark. The effects of solvent

Vivid Structural Coloration in Transparent MXene‐Cellulose Nanocrystals Composite Films
Vivid structural coloration in reflectance and high transparency in transmittance modes are observed in biopolymer‐layered composite films. The ultrathin multilayered structures have unique optical appearance, near‐infrared bandgap, and strong optical reflection caused by alternating MXene and cellulose nanocrystals layers with high refractive index ...
