The Use of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy as a Screening Method for Determination of Hydrolytic Stability of Poly(ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate)

open access: yesCorrosion and Materials Degradation
The hydrolytic stability of thin poly(ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate), PECA, adhesive films on grit-blasted mild steel substrates was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Unusual Swelling Behavior of Hydrogels Modified with Spiropyran as Appendage or Crosslinker

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Not so innocent after all—spiropyran crosslinkers in methylenebisacrylamide‐crosslinked poly(acrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) hydrogels increase crosslinking density, but also, counterintuitively, increase swelling. Charge complexation, cooperative chemo‐mechanical effects, and aggregation may explain these observations.

Comprehensive Evaluation of the Nutritional Quality of Stored Watermelon Seed Oils

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The appropriate use of food industry by-products such as watermelon seeds could reduce the problem of food waste, following the “zero waste” concept. Research in recent years suggests that these unused waste products could be a source of nutrients and ...

Improved hydrolytic robustness and catalytic performance of flexible lanthanide-based metal-organic frameworks: A matter of coordination environments

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Due to the flexible structures and vulnerable coordination bonds, hydrolytic stability of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is a critical issue for practical use.

A synthetic quality index to evaluate the functional stability of soil microbial communities after perturbations

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2021
Soil stability includes both resistance, the ability to withstand a perturbation or stress, and resilience, the ability to recover to pre perturbation levels.

Bioinspired Bromination Enables Extensible, Strain‐Stiffening Resilin Peptide Scaffolds with Tunable Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired bromination of a resilin‐derived peptide enables the fabrication of electrospun nanofibrous scaffolds that uniquely combine strain‐stiffening elasticity, proteolytic stability, and antioxidant functionality. These brominated peptide–gelatin hybrids mimic the extensibility of natural elastomers, demonstrating tunable mechanical resilience ...
