A Hydromechanical Transmission Development
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1967<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes the results of the first step of a planned development program to produce a family of split path hydro-mechanical transmissions for military applications. The HMT-250 hydromechanical transmission has given superior performance, unlimited ability to change ratio without affecting service life ...

Characteristics of Multiple Range Hydromechanical Transmissions
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1972<div class="htmlview paragraph">The purpose of this paper is to show the advantages of multirange hydromechanical transmissions and to show some basic relationships of primary design parameters. Hydromechanical transmissions can be designed so that they maintain a high efficiency over a wide range of torque/speed variations.

Mode Shifting in Hybrid Hydromechanical Transmissions
ASME/BATH 2015 Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, 2015Demands for low cost sustainable solutions have increased the use of and interest in complex hydromechanical transmissions for heavy off-road vehicles. In transmissions with multiple modes, an important condition is to maintain the tractive force during the mode shifting event.

Electronic-control system of hydromechanical transmission
Proceedings of the IEEE International Vehicle Electronics Conference (IVEC'99) (Cat. No.99EX257), 2003By using electronic control systems instead of an ordinary open-loop control systems with mechanical operation and hydraulic servos, the fluctuation of the output speed of a multi-range hydro-mechanical variable transmission (HMT) can be reduced from 17% to 2% (with PID control logic), and to 1.5% (with fuzzy control logic).

Development of an Automotive Hydromechanical Transmission
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1978<div class="htmlview paragraph">The development of an automotive hydromechanical transmission is described and the results of in-vehicle testing presented. Fuel economy and performance results are encouraging; emissions increase, however.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">A second generation transmission is in the design stage ...

The Hydromechanical Transmission — Ideal and Real
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1968<div class="htmlview paragraph">Analysis of the performance of a split-torque or input-coupled hydrostatic transmission by means of a mathematical model reveals features which are important to the designer and user alike.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The quality of the hydraulic components of the transmission has profound ...

Design Optimization of Complex Hydromechanical Transmissions
Journal of Mechanical Design, 2013Demands for higher fuel efficiency for off-highway applications motivate manufacturers to replace existing drive transmissions with more complex, high-efficiency transmissions. Increased intelligence and more advanced architectures are, however, more difficult to design and prototype.

Development of a Hydromechanical Steering Transmission
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1972<div class="htmlview paragraph">The advantages of infinitely variable ratio steering and propulsion for track laying vehicles are well known. Studies and demonstrator programs in the past decade have indicated that the hydromechanical transmission has the most promise of providing infinitely variable ratio for military vehicles.

Design of hydromechanical transmission using network analysis
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, 2005A systematic approach to the design of a three-shaft hydromechanical transmission (HMT) is proposed. The three-shaft HMT is classified into 12 basic configurations depending on the planetary gear position connected with the hydrostatic unit (HSU) at the input and the output shafts.
