Identification of antibodies against hydropericardium syndrome in wild birds

British Poultry Science, 2013
1. Domestic fowl and free-living birds were examined for the presence or absence of antibodies against hydropericardium syndrome (HPS) using an indirect haemagglutination assay. 2. Two-hundred and eighty serum samples of commercial (45 broilers, 20 adult layers and 15 Fayoumi fowl) and wild birds, including 65 peafowl, 45 pigeons, 10 crows, 30 house ...

Outbreaks of Hydropericardium Syndrome and Molecular Characterization of Korean Fowl Adenoviral Isolates

Avian Diseases, 2008
Outbreaks ofhydropericardium syndrome (HPS), caused by fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4), have occurred in Korea and caused severe economic loss due to mortality and weight loss. From these outbreaks, several adenoviruses were isolated and identified in samples from broilers, layers, breeders, and native Korean fowl.

Studies on the aetiology of hydropericardium syndrome (Angara disease) in broilers

Veterinary Record, 1991
The study was carried out to determine the aetiological agent(s) associated with hydropericardium syndrome (Angara disease) in broilers in Pakistan. The results indicate that in addition to adenovirus some other agent is involved in causing the disease but that this agent requires co-infection by an adenovirus for the reproduction of the typical signs ...

Hepatitis and hydropericardium syndrome associated with adenovirus infection in goslings

Acta Veterinaria Hungarica, 2010
Two outbreaks of severe acute disease characterised by hepatitis and hydropericardium were observed in young goslings on large-scale farms in Hungary. Histological examination revealed multifocal necrotic areas and two types of intranuclear inclusion bodies adjacent to necrotic areas in the liver.

Pancreatic Necrosis and Ventricular Erosion in Adenovirus-associated Hydropericardium Syndrome of Broilers

Veterinary Pathology, 2002
Seven 19-day-old broiler chickens affected with hydropericardium syndrome (HPS) with pancreatic necrosis and gizzard erosions were investigated pathologically and virologically. Mortality increased after 13 days of age in a flock on a broiler farm. The mortality rate of the flock reached 10% by 19 days of age.

The Hydropericardium Syndrome and Inclusion Body Hepatitis in Domestic Fowl

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2000
Hydropericardium syndrome, an emerging disease of poultry, has recently been detected in some countries of Asia and America, particularly in broiler birds aged 3-6 weeks. The disease is characterized by its sudden occurrence with high mortality of up to 80% in broilers and low mortality of under 10% in layers, associated with hydropericardium.

Risk factors associated with hydropericardium syndrome in broiler flocks

Veterinary Record, 1992
A prospective study was undertaken to identify the epidemiological factors associated with the development and spread of the hydropericardium syndrome in broiler flocks. Data were collected between July 1989 and April 1990 from 131 flocks in 105 broiler production units pertaining to their demography, management practices, prophylactic procedures and ...

Preliminary studies on the development of vaccine against the "hydropericardium syndrome" of poultry

Revue Scientifique et Technique de l'OIE, 1989
Summary: A hydropericardi um syndrome of broiler chicks, associated with an adenovirus, has caused considerable losses in Pakistan since August 1987. Eight of ten chicks were protected from the disease by a vaccine prepared from infective liver suspension treated with formaldehyde. An oil-adjuvant vaccine protected only two of ten chicks, but challenge

Hydropericardium Hepatitis Syndrome Emerged in Cherry Valley Ducks in China

Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2016
Since June 2015, a highly pathogenic disease occurred in duck flocks in China, causing pericardial effusion, enlarged discoloured liver, renal enlargement and haemorrhagic lung with a mortality ranging from 5% to 20%. Previous study confirmed that Fowl adenovirus group C (FAdV-C) and some field FAdVs isolates had been identified as causative agents of ...
