Anterior segment optical coherence tomography of intraocular lens opacification
Postoperative opacification of a hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) is an uncommon complication. A 57-year-old diabetic female who had undergone phacoemulsification with IOL implantation in her right eye 16 years back presented with diminution of

Biocompatibility of Intraocular Lenses [PDF]
The performance of an intraocular lens is determined by several factors such as the surgical technique, surgical complications, intraocular lens biomaterial and design, and host reaction to the lens.

We describe the clinicopathological and ultrastructural features of an opaque single-piece hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) explanted from a patient. The main outcome of this report is the documentation of calcium deposits confirmed by surface analysis. The decrease in visual acuity was due to the opacification of the IOL.

Repositioning of Vertical Implantable Phakic Contact Lens. [PDF]
Vertical orientation of Implantable Phakic Contact Lens. ABSTRACT Implantable phakic contact lens (IPCL) V2.0 has a special patterned hole on the leading left corner to ensure correct orientation and positioning. Incorrect orientation is an absolute indication for repositioning.

Late opacification of a hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens
Cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation is considered to be a safe procedure in most cases. However, the new advances in the surgical technique namely phacoemulsification and hence the increased use of foldable intraocular lenses have given rise to new complications including late opacification of intraocular lenses.
