Low-Temperature and High-Pressure Induced Swelling of a Hydrophobic Polymer-Chain in Aqueous Solution

open access: yes, 2005
We report molecular dynamics simulations of a hydrophobic polymer-chain in aqueous solution between $260 {K}$ and $420 {K}$ at pressures of $1 {bar}$, $3000 {bar}$, and $4500 {bar}$.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Three Way Comparison of Hydrophilic Ionic Liquid, Hydrophobic Ionic Liquid, and Dilute Acid for the Pretreatment of Herbaceous and Woody Biomass

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2018
This paper examines the efficacy of ionic liquid (IL) pretreatment on seven different commercially harvested biomass types: corn stover, miscanthus, pine, sorghum, sugarcane bagasse, switchgrass, and wheat straw in an effort to improve the production of ...

A Survey on Applications of Nanomaterials for Conservation of Artworks [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2017
Artworks and historical monuments are often subjected to various damages and deteriorations, according to their age. Damages on artworks or repaired artworks may be provoked by human (vandalism) or by environmental factors such as humidity and light (UV).

Nanodroplets on rough hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces

open access: yes, 2008
We present results of Molecular Dynamics (MD) calculations on the behavior of liquid nanodroplets on rough hydrophobic and hydrophilic solid surfaces. On hydrophobic surfaces, the contact angle for nanodroplets depends strongly on the root mean square ...
