An unusual “NOS” bond with a bridging oxygen atom can form under oxidising conditions between a cysteine and a lysine residue. Now the reaction mechanisms for the formation of single and double NOS bonds in proteins have been computationally investigated.

SUMMARY Rice flowering is triggered by transcriptional reprogramming at the shoot apical meristem (SAM) mediated by florigenic proteins produced in leaves in response to changes in photoperiod. Florigens are more rapidly expressed under short days (SDs) compared to long days (LDs) and include the HEADING DATE 3a (Hd3a) and RICE FLOWERING LOCUS T1 (RFT1)

A Bio‐Mimetic Leaf Wetness Sensor from Replica Molding of Leaves
Accurate measurement of leaf wetness duration is essential for predicting the risk of plant disease. Here, a novel leaf wetness sensor with a biomimetic leaf replica surface that more accurately predicts leaf wetness across plant species is developed.

Nanoparticles of different polymeric core rigidities are tested for cell uptake, using two particle sizes, 50 and 100 nm diameters. Whilst uptake is similar for all 50 nm particles, softer particles are taken up faster and threefold more into mammalian cells than harder nanoparticles with the larger 100 nm particles.

Abstract In this study, the weather stability of a biogenic wood‐plastic composite (bio‐WPC) made of bio‐based polyamide 11 (PA11) and 30 wt% of beech wood particles (BP) by twin‐screw compounding is evaluated. It is found that UV aging has no significant effects on the modulus of elasticity and tensile strength of the injection molded bio‐WPC due to ...

Abstract High‐risk solid tumors continue to pose a tremendous therapeutic challenge due to multidrug resistance. Biological mechanisms driving chemoresistance in high‐risk primary and recurrent disease are distinct: in newly diagnosed patients, non‐response to therapy is often associated with a higher level of tumor “stemness” paralleled by ...

Hydrophylic Polymers as a Carrier for VA Mycorrhizal Inoculum [PDF]
Four techniques of inoculating rooted Carissa grandiflora cuttings with the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus intraradices were evaluated. Placement of a root inoculum around the root systems of Carissa or totally incorporated into potting medium resulted in higher colonization levels than dipping cutting root systems in suspensions of inoculum in Viterra or ...

This study aims to produce novel derivatives of karaya gum using chemical modification and then apply them for active packaging with cinnamaldehyde as the main active component. Native karaya gum (NKG) was hydrolyzed using sodium hydroxide to yield hydrolyzed karaya gum (HKG), which then was oxidized using sodium periodate to yield hydrolyzed‐oxidized ...
