The Impacts of Weather Variability and Shocks on Farmers and Indigenous Peoples' Consumption: Evidence From Panama

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Weather variability and shocks pose significant challenges for tropical developing countries, making it crucial to understand their effects on consumption to address the existing deficiencies among the most vulnerable groups. This study examines the impact of weather variability and shocks on household consumption in Panama, utilizing repeated

Multifaceted Assessment of the Relationship Between FDI and Sustainable Development in Latin America: The Role of the FDI Surplus Upon Environmental Productivities

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the present study, we examined the impact of the net effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on biodiversity and ecological footprint productivity in 21 Latin American countries over a 32‐year period from 1990 to 2022. Additionally, we propose the hypothesis of ecological transition (ETH), which conceptualizes the asymmetric impact on ...

Finding a mix of renewable energy for different stakeholders by applying multi‐criteria decision‐making techniques

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 2499-2534, July 2026.
Abstract This paper presents a two‐stage model for planning a renewable energy portfolio by balancing economic, social and environmental sustainability goals. The first stage addresses a multi‐objective problem where conflictive impacts generated by the energy portfolios should be optimised according to the corresponding economic, social or ...

A New Unit‐Lindley Mixed‐Effects Model With an Application to Electricity Access Data

open access: yesEnvironmetrics, Volume 37, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a novel unit‐Lindley mixed‐effects model (NULMM) within the generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) framework, designed for analyzing correlated response variables bounded within the unit interval. Parameter estimation was conducted via maximum likelihood, using Laplace approximation and adaptive Gaussian‐ Hermite ...

Forecasting Carbon Prices: A Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 496-529, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Carbon emissions trading is utilized by a growing number of states as a significant tool for addressing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), global warming problem and the climate crisis. Accurate forecasting of carbon prices is essential for effective policy design and investment strategies in climate change mitigation.

Degassing fluxes in a temperate hydropower reservoir predictable by deep‐water dissolved oxygen but highly sensitive to discharge variability

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Hydropower reservoirs contribute to methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, like all aquatic ecosystems. Unique to hydropower reservoirs are degassing emissions that occur when deep‐water intakes move water with high CH4 and CO2 concentrations through turbines, leading to the release of these gases.
