The costs of uncoordinated infrastructure management in multi-reservoir river basins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Though there are surprisingly few estimates of the economic benefits of coordinated infrastructure development and operations in international river basins, there is a widespread belief that improved cooperation is beneficial for managing water scarcity ...

Effects of joint geometric configurations on cyclic shear behavior of intermittent joints under constant normal stiffness conditions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The present manuscript explored the effects of joint configurations on the cyclic shear behavior of intermittent joints for the first time. The cyclic shear response, shear strength degradation, dilation characteristics evolution, frictional property, fractal dimension, and dissipative energy were further analyzed during shear cycles, which is crucial ...

Rockburst prediction based on data preprocessing and hyperband‐RNN‐DNN

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A data preprocessing workflow is proposed to address challenges in rockburst data analysis. Coupled algorithms preprocess the data set, and hyperband optimization is used to enhance RNN performance. Results show that preprocessing improves accuracy, while dense layers enhance model stability and prediction performance.
