A new concept for dielectric elastomer actuators: hydrostatic coupling

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
So-called dielectric elastomer (DE) actuators represent today one of the best performing technologies for electroactive polymer based actuation. This paper presents the concept for a new of class of DE actuators, with attractive potential capabilities for specific application needs.

Hydrostatically Coupled Dielectric Elastomer Actuators: New Opportunities for Haptics

MRS Proceedings, 2011
ABSTRACTDielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) have been demonstrated to represent today a high-performance technology for electromechanical transducers based on electroactive polymers. As a means to improve versatility and safety of DEAs for several fields of application, so-called ‘hydrostatically coupled’ DEAs (HC-DEAs) have recently been described ...

Analysis for the power loss of electro hydrostatic actuator and hydraulic actuator

2015 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2015
This article describes the difference between traditional airborne hydraulic actuator and electro hydrostatic actuator in heat dissipation. The power loss of the two systems are analyzed based on the method of energy transfer under different working conditions.

Research on the energy-regulation electro-hydrostatic actuator

2016 IEEE Chinese Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference (CGNCC), 2016
This paper describes the benefits of the common electro-hydrostatic actuators(EHAs), the substitutes of common hydraulic actuators, and also highlights the motor heating problem. It proposes a energy-regulation EHAs which can not only insulate motor heating status caused by cis-load, but also improve its efficiency.

Review on electro hydrostatic actuator for flight control

International Journal of Fluid Power, 2016
AbstractElectro Hydrostatic Actuator (EHA) is an emerging aerospace technology that aims at replacing centralised hydraulic system by a self-contained and localised direct drive actuator system. EHA has become an important part of modern flight control systems due to the increased efficiency, reduced leakages and lower overall weight compared to ...

Hydrostatic Actuator Drive Control with Pump Leakage Compensation

2020
The paper presents research of the hydraulic cylinder drive system equipped with gear pump driven by asynchronous motor fed by the frequency inverter using a developed method of pump leakage compensation (LPC) to control the flow. The pump parameters at various pressures and various angular speeds of the asynchronous motor, including in the speed range

Modeling and Identification of an Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2010
Abstract The aim of this paper is to develop an accurate model of an electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHSA) and to estimate the model parameters. The physical behavior of each components has been analyzed and a linear model has been obtained. Then, the cylinder friction phenomenon and the cylinder chambers volume variations have been considered and a ...

Design of Self-Compensating Hydrostatic Bearing For Actuators

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018
Self-compensating hydrostatic bearings overcome disadvantages of other types of hydrostatic bearings like need to hand tune the restrictors, high sensitivity to manufacturing errors and also the problem of clogging. In addition they also retain all the benefits of hydrostatic bearings such as very high stiffness and straightness characteristics.

The Nonlinear Accuracy Model of Electro-Hydrostatic Actuator

2008 IEEE Conference on Robotics, Automation and Mechatronics, 2008
The electro-hydrostatic actuator (EHA) is a kind of power-by-wire (PBW) actuator. In this paper, a typical architecture of EHA is described and the block diagram model of EHA is established directly from the mathematic equations without transfer functions, which is a nonlinear accuracy model.
