The dynamic characteristics of hydrostatic bearings
Wear, 1993Abstract The characteristics of hydrostatic bearings have been theoretically studied in terms of the compressibility of the air-contained oil. A formula for the stability criterion of a hydrostatic bearing system and a dynamic stiffness formula have been derived.

Characteristics of a hydrostatic thrust bearing
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1962Summary The static and dynamic behaviour of a hydrostatic thrust bearing has been fully analysed starting from the Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional flow. An expression has been derived giving the force exerted by the oil in terms of the variables, amplitude of vibration, thickness of oil film and frequency.

Simple modeling of hydrostatic bearings
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Hydrostatic bearings are a key component for many large telescopes due to their high load bearing capacity, stiffness and low friction. A simple technique is presented to model these bearings to understand the effects of geometry, oil viscosity, flow control, temperature, etc. on the bearings behavior.
