The design of the center of pressure apparatus with demonstration

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2020
In this project, the design of the center of pressure apparatus is attained to determine the static hydrostatic force exerted by a fluid on a submerged surface.

Hemolysis Under High Hydrostatic Pressure

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1971
SummaryHydrostatic pressures up to 41 atm had no significant immediate effect on the percentage of hemolysis of washed red cells when they were diluted with an equal volume of water. After prolonged exposures to pressures up to 540 atm there was a significant increase in hemolysis due to pressure which was 2-3 times greater at 6° than at 25°.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Non-Hydrostatic Galerkin Model with Weighted Average Pressure Profile

open access: yesComputation
This work develops a novel two-dimensional, depth-integrated, non-hydrostatic model for wave propagation simulation using a weighted average non-hydrostatic pressure profile. The model is constructed by modifying an existing non-hydrostatic discontinuous/

On-Chip Cell Incubator for Simultaneous Observation of Culture with and without Periodic Hydrostatic Pressure

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
This paper proposes a microfluidic device which can perform simultaneous observation on cell growth with and without applying periodic hydrostatic pressure (Yokoyama et al. Sci. Rep. 2017, 7, 427). The device is called on-chip cell incubator. It is known

Unique phase diagram with narrow superconducting dome in EuFe$_2$(As$_{1-x}$P$_x$)$_2$ due to Eu$^{2+}$ local magnetic moments

open access: yes, 2012
The interplay between superconductivity and Eu$ ^{2+}$ magnetic moments in EuFe$_2$(As$_{1-x}$P$_x$)$_2$ is studied by electrical resistivity measurements under hydrostatic pressure on $x=0.13$ and $x=0.18$ single crystals.

Breathable Graphene Oxide‐Polymer Composite Membranes With Two‐Step Barrier Mechanism Against Nerve Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breathable membranes that reject chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are required for next‐generation protective apparel. A dual‐function graphene oxide (GO)‐polyamine architecture is introduced that addresses the long‐standing tradeoff between vapor transmission and CWA selectivity.

Study on the dynamic response and dynamic buckling modes of cylindrical shells under deep-water explosions

open access: yesApplied Ocean Research
This paper studies the deformation and dynamic buckling mechanisms of cylindrical shells subjected to explosive loads at varying water depths, through a combination of deep-water explosion experiments and numerical simulations.
