Hydrothermal fluids circulation and travertine deposition in an active

open access: yes, 2016
Coexistence of thermal springs, travertine deposits and tectonic activity is a recurring feature for most geothermal areas. Although such a certainty, their relationships are debated mainly addressing on the role of the tectonic activity in triggering and controlling fluids flow and travertine deposition.

The effects of changing climate on faunal depth distributions determine winners and losers

open access: yes, 2014
Changing climate is predicted to impact all depths of the global oceans, yet projections of range shifts in marine faunal distributions in response to changing climate seldom evaluate potential shifts in depth distribution.

Solar‐Blind Ultraviolet Photodetectors Based on Two‐Dimensional Materials and Their Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Solar‐blind ultraviolet photodetectors are crucial for diverse applications. This review comprehensively summarizes recent advances using two‐dimensional materials and their heterostructures, which offer tunable bandgaps, flexibility, and no lattice‐matching constraints.

Hydrothermal Alteration on Composite Volcanoes: Mineralogy, Hyperspectral Imaging, and Aeromagnetic Study of Mt Ruapehu, New Zealand

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2020
Prolonged volcanic activity can induce surface weathering and hydrothermal alteration that is a primary control on edifice instability, posing a complex hazard with its challenges to accurately forecast and mitigate.

Three‐dimensional simulation of hydrothermal circulation at mid‐ocean ridges

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1991
Results of numerical simulations of three dimensional hydrothermal convection in a layered medium representative of mid‐ocean ridge environments are presented. Regional‐scale three dimensional flow patterns naturally arise from reasonable assumptions about permeability distributions and magnitude of base heating.

"Hidden” degassing from streams: estimation of the CO2 release from the thermal springs of Sperchios Basin, Greece [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Areas located at plate boundaries are characterized by the presence of seismic, volcanic, and geothermal activity, as well as ore deposition. Such processes are enhanced by the circulation of hydrothermal fluids in the crust transporting volatiles from ...

Earth-atmosphere evolution based on the new determination of Devonian atmosphere Ar isotopic composition [PDF]

open access: yes
The isotopic composition of the noble gases, in particular Ar, in samples of ancient atmosphere trapped in rocks and minerals provides the strongest constraints on the timing and rate of Earth atmosphere formation by degassing of the Earth's interior. We

Potential contribution of biomass gasification‐based technology in energy transition: a technical review coupled with bibliometric studies

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Biomass gasification technology has been extensively researched around the world; however, there is a need to evaluate the current research landscape and evolutionary direction of research in the broader context of energy transition. A systematic bibliometric analysis of the Web of Science database was performed for articles that fall within ...

Box Models of Volatile Cycles over the Entire Phanerozoic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Three stand-alone geochemical box models have been developed to simulate globally coupled biogeochemical cycles. These models reflect the evolution of the participating biotic and abiotic constituents in marine and terrestrial environments, including the
