Economic Environmental Scheduling of Hydrothermal Power System
Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series B, 2014This paper presents an interactive fuzzy satisfying method based on simulated annealing technique to determine the economic environmental scheduling of hydrothermal power system consisting of multi-reservoir cascaded hydro plants with time delay and thermal plants with nonsmooth fuel cost and emission level functions.

Genetic algorithms applied to hydrothermal system scheduling
POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002This paper presents a new method to solve the optimal scheduling of hydrothermal power systems (HPSs). This is performed using an artificial intelligence technique, genetic algorithms (GAs). A few tests have been carried out on a subsystem of the Southeast Brazilian System.

A network flow algorithm for hydrothermal scheduling
POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002This paper presents a new primal-dual algorithm, which is capable of solving nonlinear network flow problem with convex separable cost. One of the main characteristics of the algorithm is that it can begin with any circulation, feasible or not, provided that node conservation conditions are satisfied. Furthermore, this paper introduces how to apply the

Optimal Generation Scheduling of Hydrothermal Power Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1980In this paper decomposition and coordination techniques are applied to minimize the operation al cost of hydrothermal power systems. Through this for muXation large systems are dealt with by a more general and precise model that includes thermal operation costs and hydroelectric power generation as nonlinear functions, water head variations, stochastic

Hopfield Lagrange for short-term hydrothermal scheduling
2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005This paper proposes Hopfield Lagrange (HL) model for optimal scheduling of fixed head and variable head hydrothermal coordination. HL is a combination of Hopfield neural network and Lagrange function. Unlike Hopfield network, HL is not required to define an energy function and map the problem into the Hopfield neural network with connection conductance.

Fast Evolutionary Progranuning Techniques for Short-Term Hydrothermal Scheduling
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2002Fast evolutionary programming techniques are applied for the solution of a short-term hydrothermal scheduling problem. Evolutionary programming (EP)-based algorithms with Gaussian and other mutation techniques have been developed and tested on a multi-reservoir cascaded hydroelectric system having prohibited operating zones and a thermal unit with ...

Midterm hydrothermal generation scheduling using nonlinear dynamic programming
2013 IEEE Grenoble Conference, 2013The electricity generation scheduling is an essential problem in the power system operation. In a market environment this problem should take into account the strategic behavior of electricity producers, locational marginal prices and consumers' response to prices (demand elasticity). Generation companies aim to maximize their profit.

A MILP-Based Approach for Hydrothermal Scheduling
2013This paper presents new solution approaches capable of finding optimal solutions for the Hydrothermal Scheduling Problem (HSP) in power generation planning. The problem has been proven to be NP-hard and no exact methods have been able to tackle it, for problem sizes of practical relevance. We explore three approaches.

Short-term hydrothermal scheduling using Gravitational Search algorithm
2012 2nd International Conference on Power, Control and Embedded Systems, 2012The Gravitational Search algorithm (GSA) is one of the recent additions to the new heuristic optimization algorithms based on law of gravity and mass interactions has been applied to solve the short term scheduling hydrothermal system. In the proposed algorithm, the searcher agents are collection of masses interact with each other based on the ...
