Optimal stochastic scheduling of hydrothermal systems

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1973
The paper describes an efficient algorithm, based on a 1st-order gradient technique in conjunction with a nonlinear-programming technique, for the long-term scheduling of multistorage hydroelectric and multithermal systems for the minimum expected fuel cost under the constraints of expected water available for hydroelectric generation in a given period

Short term multi-objective hydrothermal scheduling

Electric Power Systems Research, 2015
Abstract This paper investigates the short-term environmental/economic hydrothermal scheduling problem. The multi-objective optimization framework is proposed to model the Short-term Hydro Thermal Scheduling (SHTS) problem, while two competing objective functions are supposed to be minimized, simultaneously.

Optimal Scheduling of Hydrothermal Systems - An Overview

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1985
Abstract Operations scheduling of a hydrothermal system has to take into account a wide spictrum of activities, ranging from multi-year reservoir optimization to hourly security-constrained dispatch. The complexities of the operations scheduling problem cannot be accommodated by a single model, and it becomes necessary to develop “chains” of mode s ...

A New Algorithm for Hydrothermal Power System Scheduling

1992 American Control Conference, 1992
This paper presents a new algorithm for scheduling hydrothermal systems based on the Lagrangian relaxation technique. After system-wide constraints are relaxed by Lagrange multipliers, the problem is converted into the scheduling of individual units. This paper concentrates on the solution methodology for pumped-storage units.

Hydrothermal scheduling of power system with stochastic inflows

Proceedings. Electrotechnical Conference Integrating Research, Industry and Education in Energy and Communication Engineering', 2003
The authors present a suboptimal optimization method for solving the annual hydrothermal scheduling problem. Hydrothermal scheduling is performed in order to find the optimum allocation of hydro energy so that the annual operating cost of a mixed hydro-thermal system is minimized. The hydrothermal scheduling problem is decomposed into three subproblems:

Hopfield Lagrange for short-term hydrothermal scheduling

2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005
This paper proposes Hopfield Lagrange (HL) model for optimal scheduling of fixed head and variable head hydrothermal coordination. HL is a combination of Hopfield neural network and Lagrange function. Unlike Hopfield network, HL is not required to define an energy function and map the problem into the Hopfield neural network with connection conductance.

Improved PSO for short term hydrothermal scheduling

International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Intelligent Systems (SEISCON 2011), 2011
This paper addresses short-term scheduling of hydrothermal systems by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Particle Swarm Optimization is applied to determine the optimal hourly schedule of power generation in a hydrothermal power system.

Genetic algorithms applied to hydrothermal system scheduling

POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002
This paper presents a new method to solve the optimal scheduling of hydrothermal power systems (HPSs). This is performed using an artificial intelligence technique, genetic algorithms (GAs). A few tests have been carried out on a subsystem of the Southeast Brazilian System.

Economic Environmental Scheduling of Hydrothermal Power System

Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series B, 2014
This paper presents an interactive fuzzy satisfying method based on simulated annealing technique to determine the economic environmental scheduling of hydrothermal power system consisting of multi-reservoir cascaded hydro plants with time delay and thermal plants with nonsmooth fuel cost and emission level functions.

Optimal Generation Scheduling of Hydrothermal Power Systems

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1980
In this paper decomposition and coordination techniques are applied to minimize the operation al cost of hydrothermal power systems. Through this for muXation large systems are dealt with by a more general and precise model that includes thermal operation costs and hydroelectric power generation as nonlinear functions, water head variations, stochastic
