Scheduling of hydrothermal power systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1993The authors present a method for scheduling hydrothermal power systems based on the Lagrangian relaxation technique. By using Lagrange multipliers to relax system-wide demand and reserve requirements, the problem is decomposed and converted into a two-level optimization problem.

Hydrothermal Systems and the Biosphere
2009In this chapter I present an overview of the links between life and hydrothermal systems, a topic that is experiencing a revolutionary rise in popularity and importance, involving and uniting, perhaps for the first time in the history of science, scientists from a wide range of disciplines, from Astronomy to Geology and the new exciting field of ...

Economic dispatch on hydrothermal systems

The Kakanui hydrothermal system.
2016Potential hydrothermal deposits were recognised within the late-Eocene to early-Oligocene volcanic tuff and overlying volcaniclastic grit at Kakanui South Head, Oamaru, New Zealand. The deposits included discrete pink carbonate pods within the volcanic tuff, discrete infilled cavities within the overlying volcaniclastic grit and a sub-horizontal ...

A hydrothermal system in the Midcontinent region
Economic Geology, 1979The Mississippi embayment syncline is proposed as a source of mineralizing solution for several mineral districts around the periphery of the embayment.Information developed by various forms of investigation in the Illinois-Kentucky fluorspar district has established certain requirements to form the mineral deposits of that district.

Stable Isotopes in Hydrothermal Systems
1984Abstract Isotopes are forms of an element with the same number of electrons and protons but a different number of neutrns and therefore different masses. Although chemical behavior differs very little between isotopes of the same element, the mass differences between isotopes do produce small chemical differences and equilibrium ...

Chemistry of seafloor hydrothermal systems
Reviews of Geophysics, 1987The past four years saw advances in a number of aspects of hydrothermal chemistry. High temperature venting was documented at a number of sites, in association with the spectrum of seafloor volcanic activity: slow to fast spreading normal ridges, seamounts, back arc settings; sediment‐hosted and sediment‐starved sites.

A Dynamic Hydrothermal Experimental System
OCEANS '78, 1978A unique dynamic hydrothermal system has been built to study the alteration reactions between seawater and basalt in the temperature range of 0 to 180\deg C. The purpose of the system was to approximate in the laboratory the type of geochemical reactions which would occur in a submarine hydrothermal circulation of seawater at active mid-ocean spreading
