Valorization of Black Liquor using Hydrothermal Treatment
Black liquor, a by-product of pulp mills and biorefineries, has emerged as a promising candidate for these purposes. The aim of this work is to valorise black liquor using hydrothermal processing (HTL) technology to produce an end-use material (bio-lubricant) and to test various conditions to monitor the effects of HTL.

Se‐doping in sulfides facilitates the creation of S vacancies. The collaboration of Se‐doping and S vacancies not only induces lattice distortion to weaken the M─S bonds and lift the p‐band center for improved Na+ adsorption, but also increases the number of charge carriers for an improved electronic conductivity.

Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.
