Brazilian Hydroxyapatite Implant

Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2000
To evaluate a synthetic hydroxyapatite (HA) (manufactured in Brazil) in a rabbit model.Nine New Zealand white rabbits underwent enucleation of one eye followed by implantation of either a 12-mm Brazilian synthetic HA implant or a 12-mm BioEye, wrapped in polyglactin 910 mesh.

Nanofiber generation of hydroxyapatite and fluor‐hydroxyapatite bioceramics

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, 2005
AbstractIn this study, we produced hydroxyapatite (HA) and fluor‐hydroxyapatite (FHA) bioceramics as a novel geometrical form, the nanoscale fiber, for the biomedical applications. Based on the sol‐gel precursors of the apatites, an electrospinning technique was introduced to generate nanoscale fibers.

Characterization of hydroxyapatite from eggshell waste and polycaprolactone (PCL) composite for scaffold material

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019
Hydroxyapatite was successfully synthesized from eggshell waste. In addition, 10, 20, and 30 wt% hydroxyapatite/polycaprolactone (PCL) composites were prepared. The composites were prepared by dispersing hydroxyapatite particles in PCL.

Hydroxyapatite crystal growth on calcium hydroxyapatite ceramics

Journal of Materials Science, 1988
Calcium hydroxyapatite (Ca-HAP) ceramics containing tricalcium phosphate (TCP) were soaked in three solutions: phosphate buffer, tris buffer, and simulated body fluid (SBF). Petal-like crystals of Ca-HAP were deposited on the Ca-HAP ceramics when (i) Ca-HAP ceramics contained α-TCP, (ii) the soaking solution contained phosphate ion and (iii) the pH of ...

Cerium-doped hydroxyapatite/collagen coatings on titanium for bone implants

Ceramics International, 2019
The novelty of the present research consists in the possibility of obtaining cerium-doped hydroxyapatite/collagen coatings on the titanium support, to improve the performance of the bone implants.

Laser surface modification of hydroxyapatite and glass-reinforced hydroxyapatite

Biomaterials, 2004
Surface treatment of materials with excimer laser radiation often results in the formation of a rough columnar or cone-shaped surface topography, which leads to a considerable increase in the surface area. As a result, the search for a non-porous bioactive material with adequate mechanical properties and a high surface to volume ratio, similar to ...

Synthesis, characterization, in vitro biocompatibility and antibacterial properties study of nanocomposite materials based on hydroxyapatite-biphasic ZnO micro- and nanoparticles embedded in Alginate matrix.

Materials Science and Engineering C: Materials for Biological Applications, 2019
The paper presents the results of studies of biocompatibility and antibacterial properties of multiphase nanocomposite materials based on HA-Alg-ZnO (hydroxyapatite‑sodium alginate-biphasic zinc oxide) and HA-ZnO (hydroxyapatite‑zinc oxide), which were ...
