Rheological Characterization of Low and High‐Solids‐Loaded Suspensions Using Capillary Rheometry
ABSTRACT Controlled extrusion of viscous liquids with suspended solids depends critically on rheology. The rheology of a binder (9:1 mass ratio of cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) to triacetin with a 55 wt.% diethyl ketone balance) loaded with dilute (0–15 wt.%) and concentrated (≥50 wt.%) granulated sugar loadings from three particle size ...

Elucidation of the dynamics for hot-spot initiation at nonuniform interfaces of highly shocked materials [PDF]
The fundamental processes in shock-induced instabilities of materials remain obscure, particularly for detonation of energetic materials. We simulated these processes at the atomic scale on a realistic model of a polymer-bonded explosive (3,695,375 atoms/

Polystyrene‐block‐poly(pentafluorophenyl methacrylate) (PS‐b‐PPFMA) is functionalized with primary amines to develop A‐block‐(B‐random‐C) block copolymers (BCPs). These BCPs exhibit high thermal stability and circumvent sources of undesired side reactions upon heating on account of its methacrylamide functionality.

Gas storage cylinder formed from a composition containing thermally exfoliated graphite [PDF]
A gas storage cylinder or gas storage cylinder liner, formed from a polymer composite, containing at least one polymer and a modified graphite oxide material, which is a thermally exfoliated graphite oxide with a surface area of from about 300 m(exp 2)/g

Trifluoromethylation of carbonyl groups in aromatic poly(ether ketone)s: formation of strongly polar yet surface-hydrophobic poly(arylenenecarbinol)s [PDF]
Fluoride-catalyzed reactions of trimethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane with a range of aromatic poly(ether ketone)s, both amorphous and semi-crystalline, proceed quantitatively in THF to yield soluble, amorphous polymers in which the carbon-silicon bond of ...

ABSTRACT The balance between performance and safety of high explosives is at the heart of the current studies, and new ways of combining safety and performance have hence been elaborated. This study focuses on a mixture of 3‐nitro‐1,2,4‐triazol‐5‐one (NTO) and octogen (high melting explosive [HMX]).
