Chitin based polyurethanes using hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene, part III: Surface characteristics [PDF]
Hydroxy terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)-chitin based polyurethanes (PUs) with controlled hydrophobicity were synthesized using HTPB and toluene diisocyanate (TDI). The prepolymer was extended with different mass ratios of chitin and 1,4-butane diol (BDO). The effect of chitin contents in chain extender (CE) proportions on surface properties was studied

ABSTRACT Two novel composite propellant formulations have previously been produced from a binder consisting of the thermoplastic elastomer styrene‐ethylene/butylene‐styrene (SEBS) and a solid filler, either ammonium perchlorate (AP) or 1,3,5‐trinitro‐1,3,5‐triazinane (RDX).

This study proposes a synthesis route for polyurethanes (PUs) derived from bio‐based polyols. The polyols were obtained through metathesis depolymerization of butadiene rubber using fatty alcohol (a castor oil derivative) as a chain transfer agent to produce hydroxyl‐terminated polybutadiene (HTPB).
