ABSTRACT Numerous specimens stored in natural history collections have been involuntarily preserved together with their associated microbiomes. We propose exploiting century‐old soils occasionally found on the roots of herbarium plants to assess the diversity of ancient soil microbial communities originally associated with these plants.

An experimental study of the effect of surface morphology on squeal occurrence
Squealing is a major matter of concern for environmental issues and the raised expectations for superior performances in braking systems. Squealing, as well as other types of noise nuisances, contributes to noise pollution and leads to additional ...

QTL detection and genomic prediction for resistance to anthracnose in alfalfa (Medicago sativa)
Abstract Forage production, persistence, and associated ecosystem services provided by the major forage legume, alfalfa (Medicago sativa), may be affected by disease susceptibility. Resistance to anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum trifolii, has been described as an oligogenic trait, but the precise location of resistance genes on the alfalfa genome ...

Sl-ERF2, a Tomato Ethylene Response Factor Involved in Ethylene Response and Seed Germination [PDF]
Ethylene response factors (ERFs) are plant transcriptional regulators mediating ethylene-dependent gene expression via binding to the GCC motif found in the promoter region of ethylene-regulated genes.

We show that the shape of the open field arena significantly affects mouse responses to various behavioral tests, including anxiety, locomotion, social behavior, and tactile sensitivity, in both physiological aging and after spinal cord injury. Therefore, establishing standardized protocols is particularly crucial.

Abstract Estimates of magmatic storage are typically made using mineral assemblages in natural samples, experiments and thermodynamic models (e.g., MELTS), where each method has limitations. Here, we compare each of these methods to assess their utility in estimating storage conditions for post‐collapse, two‐feldspar high‐silica rhyolites (HSRs ...

Oued Chebeika 002: A new CI1 meteorite linked to outer solar system bodies
Abstract CI1 chondrites are rare meteorites with high scientific value. In fact, they are the most chemically primitive meteorites and show evidence of intense parent‐body aqueous alteration. They also share strong similarities with samples from Ryugu and Bennu asteroids returned by the JAXA Hayabusa2 and NASA's OSIRIS‐REx missions.
