Hygrothermal Aging and Decoupled Axial‐Radial Compressive Failure Mechanisms in Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Filament‐Wound Composite Tubes

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 13, Page 11951-11960, 10 July 2026.
Composite cylinder under axial and radial compression. ABSTRACT This study examines the hygrothermal degradation of filament‐wound glass fiber‐reinforced epoxy composite tubes designed for application as liners in oil and gas systems, focusing on their response under axial or radial compression.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 13, 8 July 2026.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Regeneration Strategies in Seed Plants: A Continuum Shaping Survival

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
Seed plants dominate terrestrial ecosystems in part because regeneration is not a single event, but a coordinated sequence of traits acting across time and space. Here, we synthesize regeneration strategies in seed plants as a continuous, integrated framework spanning pre‐germination regulation, germination timing, seedling emergence, soil seed banking,

Is Hygrothermal Aging of Construction Polymer Composites a Reversible Process?

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract This paper presents the effects of wet/dry cycling loading on the moisture uptake behavior of a Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite used in the civil engineering sector. FRP samples of various dimensions were cut from an ‘off-the-shelf’ pultruded flat sheet and conditioned in a cyclic hygrothermal environment. A series of 3

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of the Mechanical Properties of Compression‐Molded Alkali‐Treated Sisal/False Banana Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Composites

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 7, July 2026.
Alkali‐treated hybrid sisal/false banana fiber‐reinforced polyester composites were fabricated by compression molding and evaluated experimentally and numerically. The 5 wt.% NaOH treatment improved fiber–matrix adhesion, enhancing tensile, flexural, and impact properties.

Fifty Years of Shore Platform Erosion Monitoring at Kaikōura Peninsula, South Island, Aotearoa‐New Zealand

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 7, July 2026.
Fifty years of micro‐erosion metre monitoring at Kaikōura show that the 2016 earthquake more than doubled shore platform erosion rates, transforming intertidal shore platforms into rapidly degrading supratidal marine terraces and reorganising the process and lithological controls that govern rock coast evolution.
