On a Kobayashi hyperbolic manifold N modulo a closed subset ΔN and its applications
We show that the degeneration locus of the Kobayashi pseudodistance on a complex manifold is always a pseudoconcave set of order 1. We give some results cocerning the degeneration locus of the Kobayashi pseudodistance. Next we prove a generalization of the little Picard theorem relevantly. Finally, we consider the case N = ΔN.

On the relations between taut, tight and hyperbolic manifolds
I t seems likely that taut implies complete hyperbolic, but I cannot prove tha t a t the present time. Don Eisenman has obtained these results concurrently by a slightly different method.

National Worry and the Psychological Value of Social Spending
ABSTRACT This paper studies “national worry.” It finds that in the West European nations the intensity of worry seems to be inversely linked to the level of social spending in a country. We also demonstrate that the proportion of citizens in Western Europe who report extreme‐worry levels has risen steadily over the last two decades.

The Ahlfors lemma and Picard's theorems [PDF]
The article introduces Ahlfors' generalization of the Schwarz lemma. With this powerful geometric tool of complex functions in one variable, we are able to prove some theorems concerning the size of images under holomorphic mappings, including the ...

Abstract Let E$E$ be an elliptic curve defined over Q${\mathbb {Q}}$, and let K$K$ be an imaginary quadratic field. Consider an odd prime p$p$ at which E$E$ has good supersingular reduction with ap(E)=0$a_p(E)=0$ and which is inert in K$K$. Under the assumption that the signed Selmer groups are cotorsion modules over the corresponding Iwasawa algebra ...

Abstract Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a universal issue which affects girls in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and South America, and immigrant communities in Western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. FGM is a cultural practice in approximately 29 countries in Africa, affecting over 140 million girls.

Social capital and economic growth: A meta‐analysis
Abstract This research provides a comprehensive, quantitative synthesis of the empirical literature on social capital and economic growth. It assesses 957 estimates from 83 studies. While our preferred estimate of the overall mean effect is close to zero and statistically insignificant, the main finding of our analysis is the substantial degree of ...

Deformations of Anosov subgroups: Limit cones and growth indicators
Abstract Let G$G$ be a connected semisimple real algebraic group. We prove that limit cones vary continuously under deformations of Anosov subgroups of G$G$ under a certain convexity assumption, which turns out to be necessary. We apply this result to the notion of sharpness for the action of a discrete subgroup on a non‐Riemannian homogeneous space ...

Summary This study explored the prospective associations between sleep patterns, mental health and registry‐based school grades among older adolescents. In the spring of 2019, 1st year high‐school students in Western Norway were invited to a survey assessing habitual sleep duration, insomnia, depression and anxiety.

Convexity properties and complete hyperbolicity of Lempert's elliptic tubes
We prove that elliptic tubes over properly convex domains of the real projective space are C-convex and complete Kobayashi-hyperbolic. We also study a natural construction of complexification of convex real projective manifolds.Comment: 11 ...
