Mesoscopic derivation of hyperbolic transport equations

Physical Review E, 1994
In this paper we present a derivation of the hyperbolic type of Fokker-Planck equations governing the dynamics of the numerical values associated to a set of observables of a many body system. The ensuing transport equations for the appropriate averages of such variables, namely the gross variables, are also obtained. In both cases we simply extend the

Derivation of hyperbolic models for chemosensitive movement

Journal of Mathematical Biology, 2004
A Chapman-Enskog expansion is used to derive hyperbolic models for chemosensitive movements as a hydrodynamic limit of a velocity-jump process. On the one hand, it connects parabolic and hyperbolic chemotaxis models since the former arise as diffusion limits of a similar velocity-jump process.

A weak‐derivative form for linear hyperbolic systems

Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2004
AbstractDifference schemes for linear hyperbolic systems are considered. As a main result, a weak derivative form (WDF) of the governing equations is derived, which is also valid near flow discontinuities. The occurrence of one‐sided derivatives in the WDF structure indicated how to difference near discontinuities.
