Explicit limit cycles of a class of Kolmogorov system
A class of Kolmogorov differential system is introduced. It is shown that under suitable assumptions on degrees and parameters, algebraic limit cycles can occur. we propose an easy algorithm to test the existence of limit cycles and we give them explicit

Perturbation of a Period Annulus with a Unique Two-Saddle Cycle in Higher Order Hamiltonian
In this paper, we study the number of limit cycles emerging from the period annulus by perturbing the Hamiltonian system x˙=y,y˙=x(x2-1)(x2+1)(x2+2). The period annulus has a heteroclinic cycle connecting two hyperbolic saddles as the outer boundary.

Geometric tools to determine the hyperbolicity of limit cycles
In this paper we present a new method to study limit cycles’ hyperbolicity. The main tool is the function ? = ([V,W] ^ V )/(V ^W), where V is the vector field under investigation and W a transversal one. Our approach gives a high degree of freedom for choosing operators to study the stability.

Quadratic systems with a symmetrical solution
In this paper we study the existence and uniqueness of limit cycles for so-called quadratic systems with a symmetrical solution: \begin{equation*} \begin{split} \frac{dx(t)}{dt}& = P_2(x,y) \equiv a_{00}+a_{10}x+a_{01}y+a_{20}x^2+a_{11}xy+a_{02}y^2 ...

Valiron and Abel equations for holomorphic self-maps of the polydisc
We introduce a notion of hyperbolicity and parabolicity for a holomorphic self-map $f: \Delta^N \to \Delta^N$ of the polydisc which does not admit fixed points in $\Delta^N$.

Some Applications of the Extended Bendixson-Dulac Theorem [PDF]
During the last years the authors have studied the number of limit cycles of several families of planar vector fields. The common tool has been the use of an extended version of the celebrated Bendixson-Dulac Theorem.

Universal bounds on current fluctuations
For current fluctuations in non-equilibrium steady states of Markovian processes, we derive four different universal bounds valid beyond the Gaussian regime. Different variants of these bounds apply to either the entropy change or any individual current,

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
