Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Compactification of Friedmann's Hyperbolic Model

A compact hyperbolic three-manifold is substituted for the infinite space H/sup 3/, as space section of Friedmann's cosmological model of negative curvature. Some consequences are briefly analyzed. In particular it is shown that an apparent observational isotropy persists when the particle horizon intersects an anisotropic region of space.
