Bending of Hyperbolic Paraboloid Structures

Journal of the Structural Division, 1967
Deformations and internal forces in the edge members of square hyperbolic paraboloids on two supports are calculated herein. Results are based on the bending theory of shallow elastic hyperbolic paraboloids; boundary conditions account for the flexibility of the supporting edge members.

The Design of Hyperbolic Paraboloids

1991
The usual name for this type of surface, the saddle, comes from its similarity with that of conventional saddles for horseback riding. This type of hyperbolic paraboloid forms one continuous surface, which distinguishes it from other such applications that are attained by combining different parts of hyperbolic paraboloids.

Application and Display of Hyperbolic Paraboloid

2018 IEEE International Conference of Safety Produce Informatization (IICSPI), 2018
the hyperbolic paraboloid is a kind of quadric surface and ruled surface. In this paper, we take the generation process of the rotating surface as introduction. Then we select multiple sets of parallel planes to intercept the hyperbolic paraboloid based on use the cross section method, and then discuss the graph and drawing method of the hyperbolic ...

On the rigidity of triangulated hyperbolic paraboloids

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1988
Abstract The paper investigates the rigidity of two classes of three-dimensional pin-jointed assemblies which describe triangulated surfaces of hyperbolic paraboloidal shape: type 1 with straight boundaries, and type 2 with parabolic boundaries. The two arrangements have identical horizontal plans.

Hyperbolic Paraboloid Shell Structures

SP-110: Hyperbolic Paraboloid Shells, 1988
Shell st1·uctures mobilize geomet1·y to activate both the membrane and the flexural intemal force systems to efficiently suppo1·t any distl'ibuted loads applied to those st1·uctures. Based p1·ima1·ily on theit· efficiency, these geometric structural fo1·ms are employed in a number of industrial applications such as p1·essure vessels, containment stl ...

Hyperbolic Paraboloid in four “Perspectives”

2021
In this poster we will give an overview of a hyperbolic paraboloid. It will be presented in four different views: through differential geometry, student’s view, an engineering stand point and through representation as an anaglyph/perspective representation in 2D.

Study of Stability in the Hyperbolic Paraboloid

Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1966
This experimental investigation covers the buckling behavior under uniform vertical load of a right square hyperbolic paraboloid. Results are secured by observation of the behavior of small scale plastic models fabricated from polyvinyl chloride. The study focuses on defining the form buckling takes in the hyperbolic paraboloid and the influence of ...

Buckling of Hyperbolic Paraboloid Shells

1982
Theoretical and experimental buckling loads of HP shells having rectangular and parallelogram shape in plan are reported. In the case of the parallelogram shell there is a large discrepancy between experiment and theory.
