Contact Force Estimation of Continuum Robots without Embedded Sensors: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
This review surveys methods for estimating contact forces in continuum robots without embedded sensors. It explains why contact force matters, classifies force patterns, and groups existing methods into three approaches based on actuation, deformation, and environment information.

A New Padé Approach to Modeling Wormholes in Dekel‐Zhao Dark Matter Halos

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 3, March 2026.
A matter‐first Padé strategy is introduced to build traversable wormholes from prescribed dark‐matter halos. Rational Padé fits approximately the Dekel–Zhao density and are analytically integrated to obtain a shape function that exactly reproduces the intended matter content, avoiding spurious poles of geometry‐first schemes.

Understanding the 2024 Summer Riots in the UK: Three Case Studies

open access: yesJournal of Community &Applied Social Psychology, Volume 36, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT The wave of riots in England in summer 2024 constituted the biggest wave of disorder in the country for more than a decade. These were followed by swift policy responses, based on assumptions about the events and the participants, before any detailed empirical investigation had been carried out.

Bench Testing Analysis of Perforation Management in the Setting of Bifurcation Coronary Intervention

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 888-897, March 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Management of coronary perforation in bifurcation lesions with covered stents remains challenging. Aims We aimed to describe a proper practice and toolbox for “jailed‐branch” management after covered stent deployment. Methods Using a bench model, we tested various wires with a 120° angulated microcatheter for their ability to ...

Treatment of Coronary Perforation in a Bifurcation: Two‐Stent Strategies With Fenestrated Covered Stents

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 1080-1087, March 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Coronary perforations are a dreaded complication for any interventional cardiologist. The treatment of this complication is exceptionally difficult when it occurs in a coronary bifurcation. While a conservative approach or a balloon occlusion might be sufficient in some cases, additional treatment is sometimes necessary.

Wetland soil history shapes microbial community composition, while hydrologic disturbance alters greenhouse gas fluxes

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract While wetlands represent a small fraction (~5%–10%) of the world's land surface, it is estimated that one‐third of wetlands have been lost due to human activities. Wetland habitat loss decreases ecosystem benefits, including improved water quality and climate change mitigation.
