An Open‐Label, Multicenter, Phase II Study of Bexarotene in Patients with Adult T‐Cell Leukemia/Lymphoma

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A multicenter, open‐label, historically controlled, 2‐arm phase II study was conducted to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetics of bexarotene in Japanese patients with adult T‐cell lymphoma/leukemia (ATL). The study enrolled patients with indolent ATL and skin lesions and patients with aggressive ATL who had skin relapse after ...

Objective assessment of functional and motor-cognitive outcomes among asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism patients undergoing parathyroidectomy using wearable technologies: a pilot study towards better informed clinical decision-making [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
For the past 40 years, most patients with Primary Hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) have presented with the asymptomatic form of PHPT. Despite the dominance of the asymptomatic PHPT phenotype, current National Institutes of Health (NIH) indications for ...

Folding, misfolding, and regulation of intracellular traffic of G protein‐coupled receptors involved in the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background G protein‐coupled receptors are a large and functionally diverse family of membrane receptors involved in a number of biological processes. Like other proteins, G protein‐coupled receptors need to be properly folded in order to traffic to the plasma membrane and interact with agonist.

Intravenous infusion of magnesium sulfate and its effect on horses with trigeminal-mediated headshaking. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundTrigeminal-mediated headshaking results from low-threshold firing of the trigeminal nerve resulting in apparent facial pain. Magnesium may have neuroprotective effects on nerve firing that potentially dampen signs of neuropathic pain.

Acute onset neurological deficits and hypocalcaemia associated with nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism in three juvenile servals (Leptailurus serval)

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism is a metabolic disorder caused by an imbalance in calcium homeostasis and is typically associated with the feeding of a calcium‐deficient diet. Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism has been reported in domestic species, including cats and dogs, as well as captive carnivores and wildlife including lions ...

Emerging role of G protein‐coupled receptor class C group 5 member D‐directed immunotherapy in multiple myeloma: Advances, resistance and combination strategies

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Multiple myeloma (MM) is a clonal malignancy of plasma cells characterized by frequent relapse and therapeutic resistance. G protein‐coupled receptor class C group 5 member D (GPRC5D) has emerged as a promising immunotherapeutic target due to its high and selective expression in MM cells and minimal presence in normal tissues.

Atrial fibrillation as the initial presentation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma-induced hypercalcemia

open access: yesJournal of Rare Diseases
Background Hypercalcemia caused by non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphomas is not common, and it rarely manifests as the first presentation for medical attention.

PIK3C2A‐Related Clinical Phenotype and Cellular Charaterization Linked to Functional SHH Primary Cilia Defect

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Trio exome sequencing allowed the identification of two novel compound heterozygous variants in PIK3C2A, defining the fifth family presenting a PIK3C2A‐related syndrome characterized by pulverulent cataracts and deafness. Functional testing revealed impaired PI metabolism and primary dysfunction phenotype.

Flow cytometric characterization and clinical outcome of CD4+ T-cell lymphoma in dogs: 67 cases. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundCanine T-cell lymphoma (TCL) is conventionally considered an aggressive disease, but some forms are histologically and clinically indolent. CD4 TCL is reported to be the most common subtype of TCL.
