Glomerular hyperfiltration

Nature Reviews Nephrology, 2022
Circulating blood is filtered across the glomerular barrier to form an ultrafiltrate of plasma in the Bowman's space. The volume of glomerular filtration adjusted by time is defined as the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), and the total GFR is the sum of all single-nephron GFRs.

ChemInform Abstract: HYPERFILTRATION OF SACCHARIDE SOLUTIONS [PDF]

open access: possibleChemischer Informationsdienst, 1973

The impact of hyperfiltration on the diabetic kidney

Diabetes & Metabolism, 2015
More than two decades ago, hyperfiltration (HF) in diabetes was postulated to be a maladaptive response observed early in the course of diabetic kidney disease (DKD), which may eventually predispose to irreversible damage to nephrons and development of progressive renal disease. Despite this, the potential mechanisms leading to renal HF in diabetes are

Hyperfiltration studies x. Hyperfiltration with dynamically-formed membranes

Desalination, 1967
Abstract The usual configuration projected for the hyperfiltration (reverse osmosis) desalination process utilizes specially cast cellulose acetate membranes placed on suitable supports. We have found that salt-rejecting interfacial layers or membranes with frequently remarkably high permeation rates can be formed dynamically on porous bodies when ...

Hyperfiltration and glomerulosclerosis

Seminars in Nephrology, 2003
Nearly 70 years ago, the association between reduction in renal mass and subsequent glomerular injury was established. Later the pathologic changes were attributed to adaptive hemodynamic changes in the residual nephrons. This relationship seems to exist in a number of experimental animal species, as well as humans.
